About Gyan Setu Think Tank
Gyan Setu Think Tank (GSTT) is an independent strategic research and policy-oriented institution registered under the Indian Societies Act. Conceived as a knowledge bridge, GSTT connects academic scholarship with practitioner expertise in the fields of defence, national security, and strategic studies. The think tank is grounded in the belief that effective security policy and strategic foresight emerge from sustained interaction between rigorous research and real-world operational experience.
GSTT provides an inclusive platform for faculty members, research scholars, students, defence professionals, and subject-matter experts—both serving and retired—to engage in structured dialogue, collaborative research, and policy-relevant analysis. It aims to strengthen India’s defence and security studies ecosystem by promoting regionally rooted yet globally informed perspectives and by decentralizing strategic discourse beyond traditional policy hubs.
The institution focuses on a wide range of thematic areas, including military strategy and history, operational art, defence technology, weapons of mass destruction, insurgency, terrorism, conflict management, and comprehensive national power. Through lectures, seminars, workshops, conferences, training programmes, and focused research projects, GSTT seeks to advance critical thinking, knowledge dissemination, and public awareness on contemporary security challenges.
GSTT is the brainchild of Lt. Gen. K.J. Singh, who serves as its Convenor, supported by a governing body comprising senior academics and experienced defence professionals, ensuring analytical rigor, practical relevance, and strategic credibility.
